Question: What can I do if I encounter the following error?
- FiveM: Game data outdated: FiveM needs to update the local game data.
Answer: If you receive this message, it means that you must update your local FiveM game data.
Upon receiving the error, you will be notified of the expected download space requirements and prompted if you would like to continue.
- Select Yes and allow the FiveM client to update
- Once complete, restart FiveM
If the above steps don’t resolve your issue, check to make sure that the CitizenFX.ini file points to the current Grand Theft Auto V installation:
- Press Windows key+R on your keyboard
- Type the following into the dialog to open the FiveM client in the Windows File Explorer:
- %localappdata%/FiveM/FiveM.app
- Press Enter
- Right-click the CitizenFX.ini file
- Select Open With
- Select Notepad
- Edit the path on the IVPATH= line pointing to your GTAV installation
- Rockstar Games Launcher default: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V
- Steam default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V
- Epic Games Launcher default: C:\Program Files\Epic Games\GTAV
- Xbox app for PC default: C:\XboxGames\Grand Theft Auto V\Content
