What is asset versioning?
Asset versioning lets resource creators publish more than one version of the same asset on Portal.
Each version has its own version number, release notes, and asset version type so users can see what has changed between releases.
How many versions of an asset can I publish?
You can publish up to five versions of a single asset.
What is an asset version type?
Each asset version is published as one of two types:
- Full Release
- Release Candidate/Beta
What is a Release Candidate?
A Release Candidate is an asset version that a Creator has marked to indicate it is an early build that may require further work before it is fully polished. Because these versions may not work properly, there is a warning before downloading them.
Which version of an asset do users download?
When a Creator uploads multiple versions, they appear in the order they were uploaded in the version list. By default, the most recent Full Release version is downloaded when requested. If you would like to download a different version of the asset, you can follow the steps in the support article below:
What are release notes?
Release notes are a per-version part of assets that lets Creators describe the changes, additions, and removals included as part of any asset version. Release notes are optional.
Can Creators remove older versions?
Yes, Creators can delete older versions of their assets. However, one asset version must remain available for download or the asset will no longer be visible.
