Question: Why did I lose access to my characters or progress after the Account Security Update?
Answer: This can occur if the Account Security Update that was released on June 24, 2026, changed your license identifier or license2 identifier. This identifier allows FiveM and RedM servers to recognize your Rockstar Games account.
Characters set to the wrong identity
You can restore your characters or progress by using the steps below to set a different linked identity as your default identity:
- Open FiveM or RedM
- Select the on-screen notice about the security update, or open your game client settings
- Under Default Identity, choose the Change Default option
- Select an alternative linked identity
- Set it as your default identity
- Restart your game client
- Connect to the server again
Still unable to see your characters or progress
If you still cannot see your existing characters or progress after restarting your client, you may have selected the wrong identity. Try a different linked identity or repeat the above steps with another linked identity until your characters or progress appears.
Note: You will only be able to update your default identity until June 24, 2027. After that date, you will need help from your server owner or their team to migrate your characters or progress.
